001. _the prayer wheel

next

The stage is set; the deities watch
their eyes are stone, their tongues are still.
The man-made gods, all mocking, turn
the creaking wheel. The prayers that fill
the void with pleas and hope and praise
join with the chants of nights and days
and everlasting safety when
the darkness takes us down again
and all our thoughts and all our life
so briefly flower and bloom and swirl -
but only silence lies within
the ceaseless, coiling, loveless world
..........
Yet every prayer, it joins the dance,
in every breath we hope for more;
unblinking eyes forever watch
us walk alone towards the door
